In 2006, The Bahamas took a major step in furthering relations with China by opening an Embassy in Beijing, and in 2008 appointing its first resident Ambassador to China, HE Ms Elma Campbell. The presence of official representation of The Bahamas in China has done much to advance relations, as well as provide important services to Bahamians and foreign nationals in the Asia/Pacific region.

In addition to its role as the primary interlocutor of the Government of The Bahamas to the Chinese Government, the Embassy also seeks to promote the political, social and economic interests of Bahamians and Bahamian businesses. To achieve its aims, the Embassy offers a range of consular, educational, and support services to Bahamians in the region, as well as foreign nationals interested in The Bahamas.

Mission Statement
The Embassy is guided by  the mission statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that is:

“To protect and advance the national interests of The Bahamas through the proactive coordination and management of foreign relations with individual countries, international organizations and non-governmental organizations in partnership with national ministries.”
