Bahamas Head of Mission Leads Tour

On 19th May 2006, the Bahamas Head of Mission in Beijing, China, Philip Miller, headed a delegation of Latin American and Caribbean diplomats on a three-day tour of the manufacturing facilities of Zhengzhou Yutong Group Co. Ltd., located in the city of Zengzhou, several hundred miles south-west of Beijing.

 
As a part of a familiarization tour, the diplomats were invited to view the company's assembly lines for buses and heavy equipment.
 
 
 
 
Yutong Bus Company, the subsidiary enterprise, has been in operation for almost a decade and excels in manufacturing large and medium-sized coaches and buses for public transportation and tourism; and its vehicles are sold to more than thirty countries worldwide. In 2005, the gross sale of buses was in the region of US$ 82.5 million, making it the largest bus company in the world.
 
 
 
 
Following a tour of the assembly line, Mr. Miller, on behalf of the Latin American and Caribbean diplomats, addressed the executives of Yutong Bus Company and remarked that their productive capacity; high standard and quality; and global marketing strategy were impressive.
 
 
 
 
"We in Latin America and the Caribbean want to be an integral part of this global enterprise that has distinguished itself by competitive prices and high quality. This visit will help to spread the word throughout Latin America and the Caribbean that Yutong is a world-class facility and its buses are second to none".
 
 
 
 
"Of note", he continued, "is the strategy to export technology as was done in Cuba in 2005; the emphasis placed on science, technology and training; and the after-sale service program".
 
 
 
 
In thanking the executives of the other subsidiary company, Zhengzhou Yutong Heavy Industries Co. Ltd, Mr. Miller noted that the company was involved in the manufacture of tools and equipment for the construction of roads, buildings, airports, bridges docks and other mega-structures.
 
 
 
"These tools and equipment are essential for development; and in this regard, your company is playing a critical role in the development of China and indeed the entire developing world".

"We note that your company has more than 40 years experience in this business and this should bring you to the top of your field, as you commit to applying technology and good management practices to your enterprise."
